The second excerpt from Hendrik Lasure's upcoming solo debut 'Het Wiel' is the haunting 'Hotel Dieu'. Inspired by a visit to the 15th century pauper hospital Hôtel-Dieu in Beaune, this is a track dominated by a humming organ and haunting religious imagery. We get to experience the instrumentation of the recording sessions to the fullest, with horns, strings, keys and guitar. Masterfully arranged by Hendrik himself, 'Hotel Dieu' is an ominous and desolate piece of music that contrasts nicely with the dreamy tenderness of first single 'Wolkje'.

Hendrik Lasure leaves the safe harbor and opens up his heart on his new record 'Het Wiel' (The Wheel). After around ten acclaimed instrumental albums with different ensembles, he decides to play with language for the first time, and sings in his own colloquial language. “I want it to feel as intimate as possible, both in the lyrics and in the performance. Suddenly I really heard my true self - beautiful and ugly at the same time, but very human and honest nonetheless”

Hendrik Lasure is mainly known as a keyboard player and golden boy of the lively Belgian jazz scene. In the past he released albums as a member of ensembles such as schntzl, Bombataz, An Pierlé Quartet and Thunderblender. In addition, Lasure is also active as a solo artist, in theater and as a film score composer.
